ABOUT ME

Image
I'm A. Pavani Nisansala, currently in my final year at the University of Kelaniya, pursuing a degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) from the Department of English Language Teaching. The journey through this field has been both fulfilling and enlightening as I delve deeper into the intricacies of language education. For me, the allure of teaching lies in the impact it has on shaping individuals into open-minded and non-judgmental human beings. As I approach the conclusion of my studies, I am eager to embark on a journey where I can inspire and empower students to embrace diversity, foster empathy, and become active contributors to a more inclusive society. I look forward to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead as I continue to pursue my passion for education and strive to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY Education is fundamental to human development, akin to the nurturing of two parrots blown by fate to different corners of the village. Just as one absorbs the virtues of the hermits and the other the ways of thieves, so too does the environment in which we learn shape our character and worldview. As a teacher, I believe our foremost duty is not merely to impart academic knowledge but to instill moral conduct, empathy, and humanity in our students. My approach to teaching is guided by this belief. With students in grades 6-8, I employ a blend of deductive reasoning and behaviorism, weaving moral lessons into every subject. For older students in grades 9-11, I embrace an inductive approach rooted in constructivism, fostering critical thinking through group work and open discussions. In both cases, my aim is to not only expand their intellectual horizons but also nurture their ethical compass. Education, to me, is not just about mastering subjects but about em...

REFLECTIVE SUMMARY

REFLECTIVE SUMMARY During my internship at JMC International School, I had the privilege of immersing myself in the diverse world of teaching, engaging with students across various grade levels. This experience provided me with valuable insights into effective teaching practices, as well as the opportunity to reflect on my own strengths, weaknesses, and areas for growth. One of the most effective strategies I implemented during my internship was the use of fillers to transition between different phases of the lesson. Whether it was a short brain break activity or a quick review game, these fillers proved instrumental in maintaining student engagement and focus throughout the lesson. However, I also encountered challenges with certain activities, such as starting the lesson with a game for younger students. While the intention was to energize and motivate the students, I found that it sometimes led to difficulty in regaining their attention to the main lesson content. Through reflection...

TESTIMONIALS PHOTOS FROM MY INTERNSHIP VIDEOS FROM MY INTERNSHIP CONSENT LETTER AND COMPLETION LETTER STUDENT'S FEEDBACK TIME TABLE From the Needs Analysis :  Profile of the classes and students.  Nature of the classes and the students:  Each class at JMC International School comprised 10-20 students, representing a mix of boys and girls across grades 6-11. During my internship, I observed that students exhibited diverse levels of English fluency. Despite this variability, students typically demonstrated a decent grasp of the English language and fundamental concepts but I graded my language accordingly. Seating Pattern: The seating pattern in the classrooms consisted of individual desks arranged in rows or clusters, depending on the class size and layout of the room. This seating arrangement allowed for a sense of personal space while still facilitating communication and interaction among students during group activities and discussions. Students' needs and interests: Du...
